Edible Haven

These homeowners wanted  edible plants throughout the yard  to feed themselves and the birds. The planting design   I created for them extended their living area  by creating various "outside rooms."


HIGHLIGHTS:

• For convenience , the annual production vegetable garden is placed next to the  garden shed. 
• All trees bear fruit.
• Berries are  interplanted throughout  the yard according to their cultural needs.
• A native shrub hedgerow provides wildlife habitat.
• Herbs and salad greens are were placed by the door where they can be quickly harvested.
• Edible vines such as grapes and kiwi were grown either on an arbor or trellis.
• Espaliered apples were used  instead of fence along property.
• No grass
